The castle was built in the Caliphate period between the tenth and eleventh centuries. Until S. XVI maintained its original structure modified in later centuries and now presenting its impressive image that can be seen from any point of Trujillo. Almost entirely military aspect (is an Arab fortress, remember the origin of the city), its southernmost door is the Sanctuary dedicated to the patron saint of Trujillo, the Virgen de la Victoria. It has a well in it, in this case closed (there is one in the historical open). A perfect place to get an overview of the city and chat in good company in one of its beautiful towers lit.
