Found at 9:10am on the Crescent Beach (Saquish) sand flats exposed at low tide. The bird was alternately resting with its head tucked and preening. About 9:20 it flew up and over the dune heading northward toward High Pines. I was lucky enough to find it repeating the resting/grooming behavior opposite the 3rd crossover about 25 minutes later.
Duxbury Beach is often a waystation for transient migrants moving up the coast. Today I was lucky to be in the right spot at the right time and get these photos showing most of the Caspian's field marks.
