11th May 2014 - spot the problem

Guess who’s got cooker trouble again. Guess who cremated the dinner tonight (again) because she had to guess the oven temperature and turn the knob with a pair of pliers. They don’t make spare parts for this model as it’s so old. Add this to the fact that the thermostats on the rings don’t work so the hob is either blasting hot or off and it’s now too much of a liability. I suppose that serves me right for buying a second-hand one on ebay early last year. You know what? I think I’m going to have to buy a new one now.

I’ve done a pounds-per-month calculation on the second hand one compared to the new one that I’d had a few years earlier that had died with undue haste and surprisingly the new one worked out cheaper on that basis than the second hand one so I’ve decided that I must bite the bullet even though the initial cost is higher. Damn the statistician in me!

Good luck, we bought a new one about two months ago, and the old one was only 7 years old!

Nice idea to capture the dilemma. Lest you forget the old adage: Never trust statistics you haven't faked yourself! ;-)

Take care Linda, new ones are a load of rubbish, unless you go well upmarket.
