Out from the cover of the darkening woods to eat the

Thanks for the comments. It was pretty dark out, and we snuck up on them when we came around a tight curve in the road. There was one even closer to us on the left side of the road, a bit smaller and was looking at us, but behind first. These two were actually the same size, but by the time a turned the truck to get a shot out the window the other one went into the edge of some brush. They actually did look identical, oddly colored I thought, almost a dark blonde color like a golden retriever. (p.s.: I used the word snuck because while growing up we always snuck up on things, seems that isn't a word, but we never sneaked up on things growing up, only snuck. ha!)

It feels like the one in the background is the ghost of the one in the foreground. Well caught!

Lovely shot, I always wonder how you manage to get so close to these timid creatures!

They sure have that untamed look to them! I like how their heads are joined at the ears - it is like they are attuned as a group to the same thing. A positive incarnation of group think.

That's a really good catch Shirley. It's almost as if the one behind is a reflection.

Great capture of such timid deer are hard to come by.
