Neighbor's Agave Flower
The appearance of a flower stalk on an agave is a bittersweet event.
The stalks and flowers are usually spectacular and produce a great show, but it also means the death of the plant.
Depending on the agave species, flower stalks start appearing between 7 and 20 years.
Fertilization and increased watering may cause the plants to mature and flower sooner.
The impressive flower stalks of larger species can reach a height of over 40 feet, and grow up to 3 inches a day.

Always a spectacular sight...this garden could easily be one in many suburban Australian front yards

That's really spectacular although sad that it means the end of the plant. V

Quite an impressive end to the plant's life. Lush scene. It looks like summer there already. V.

Wow, THAT's impressive and spectacular ... The plant on the left, the palm one, is also quite spectacular and impressive, did you know that it's origins go back to the days of the dinosaurs?

Such impressive plants. They are very common here.
