Ponta do Sol (literally ‘Sun Point’) is – as the name already implies – a region where you will find more sun throughout the year than in any other part of the island. In fact, Ponta do Sol owes its name of out of the sea promontory which reflected the Sun's rays.
Thanks to its location, Ponta do Sol is the warmest district of the island and has more hours of sunshine than any other.
It boasts breathtaking landscapes and encompasses the three parishes Ponta do Sol, Canhas and Madalena do Mar.
