War is Hell

One of the few "details" that the new guys volunteered for. On the infrequent occasions of a return from the field, some of the guys would take the Aid Station Forward track over to the water point and give it a wash. In this picture are Marvin Clarke (on top), Dave Senkovich (our 91C, the equivalent of an LPN, next to the track) and Gene Haggerman, all good guys. Senkovich was a SP5, while the rest of us were PFCs. He had several months in the unit already and was in charge of us new guys on this critical mission.

I was hoping that this gig would lead to a job as a Lifeguard at the Motor Pool, but the Army valued my services as a moving target too much to make the switch. Bummer!

war may indeed be hell, but this photo captures a much less gloomy aspect of it. Great shot - bravo!

Nice glimpse back in time, Dave ... doesn't seem so long ago, tho.

Thanks. That was one of the few times that was just fun and we could feel like kids for a little while.

You guys looks so young. Not much more than kids. Great shot too. v

Photography in this case especially is definitely useful work. Excellent shot. ~BV~

Yeah, I was obviously doing photography, rather than any useful work. Marvin, who was not only a great guy, but a hard worker, seems to have drawn the short straw.
