Sorel Etrog born in Jassy, Romania in 1933
Sorel Etrog was commissioned in 1970 to pay homage to one of the greatest producers of ballet in contemporary dance, Diaghtley,
who brought together in Paris, three great artists, Picasso, Stravinsky, and Cocteau - the writer of the ballet story, Sadko.
The design of the sculptures of Sadko and Kabuki which is a Japanese theatre ritual of dance, music and drama
was inspired by Sorel Etrog's fascination of nuts and bolts in a Canadian Tire Store. The statues were completed in 1972.
