Great Blue Heron

Over the last few weeks Great Blue and Black-crowned Night Herons have been returning. Unfortunately, our never-ending winter meant rivers and ponds remained mostly frozen . Just when it looked like we had left winter behind (high of +24C on April 14th) the cold weather returned. Today the forecast is for a high of +4C. No wonder the herons look a little shell-shocked.
