Liverpool Institute and School of Art.
Built in 1825 and originally known as the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts and in 1832 the name was shortened to the Liverpool Mechanics' Institution.
It was mainly an English grammar school for boys ages 11 to 18 with an excellent academic reputation built up over more than a century.
The school was closed in 1985 after many years of decline.
Paul McCartney funded the saving and restoration of the building and has since been known as Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
