I haven’t seen the Kumlien’s Gull since early February and so was pleased to see it flying with Laughing, Herring and Ring-billed Gulls over the bread pieces being tossed our of a truck in the town Pier parking area. Fortunately it landed and I could see that its plumage has become almost fully mature - a very attractive bird indeed. I’m assuming this is the same bird as we’ve watched grow up over the last 3 years – its obvious familiarity with the area and the behavior of the humans as well as its stage of molt would be consistent with the assumption.
