Wolf spider (Alopecosa)

This pale coloured spider was found in a rocky site with many lichens and huckleberries. The common name for this group of spiders (wolf spiders) comes from their habit of chasing prey across the land, unlike many spiders who build webs, or wait in hiding.

Super, detailed capture of this wolf spider. I have to admit these do creep me out because they're big and can run so fast. V.
