Rattlesnake

Twin Lakes, Lincoln County, Washington

Usually the problem with using a macro lens to record a snake is their instinct to straighten up and move laterally away. Rattlesnakes coil and move in. Note the purple tongue. This was on the road running between a basalt cliff and Lake Creek.
