P3210013.jpg

This enormous pile of sand was the result of excavating the tank for the reservoir they've been building on the butte for the last couple years. This is a lot of sand! The size of the reservoir tank is not insignificant. Supposedly, it is 80 to 100 feet deep with an area the size of three football fields. It is a completely covered reservoir.

The last time I was here, this mountain of sand was completely covered with a green coating, probably weed killer, since eventually, they're going to level this mountain, spreading it out evenly somewhere or other. I guess all the rain washed away the weed killer, or caused it to sink into the sand.
