If there was ever a dilemma, this is it. You could argue that it’s all over bar the shouting – I’ve finished my lectures today. However, I still have my dissertation to hand in and I still have the most important teaching practice to complete. This one is a long one that in overall length compares to both of the others put together and more. It’s not even started yet. So, passing by no means a foregone conclusion. Both of the really important pieces of academic work are still unmarked, indeed one of the two has not even been written yet.

That means that tonight’s small celebration is just that – small – there may be a moment in about three months’ time when the celebration is more meaningful and all I can do between then and now is to work hard and make sure I don’t mess up. Then I might be pouring some bubbly...
