Here's a few photos of Dartford Warbler that I took this afternoon . I had to take a trip to Bristol today but once I got back to Devon and with the weather still sunny, yes sunny, I can hardly believe it, I went out for a walk to make the best of what was left of the real spring like day. It was dramatically fruitful and I saw more than one pair of Dartford Warblers
and from the bridle path and partly hidden inside the overhanging branches of an old lone pine tree, I watched a pair chasing around on the tops of the gorse. The male was singing loudly and being answered by another male that I could hear behind me. Then the male that I was watching was joined by the one behind but this one was now very close and I got glorious views of it right on the opposite side of the narrow path. I was wearing more than a normal jacket, a photographers camouflaged over blouse jacket with a hood in fact. and as I was sat down beneath the tree I guess I was quite concealed.
There was a lot of singing and chattering going on and the original bird came closer to the intruder. Great for me, the photo is a crop as it was further in to the habitat rather than on the edge of the track. All in all, a pretty fascinating, educational and exciting encounter.
