a bit of a puzzle for this fellow, confronting a feeder designed for smaller birds
as Laine correctly observed yesterday (see previous image), female birds usually have plainer colouring, likely to make them harder to notice during the vulnerable nesting period...a case in point is the Wood Duck...this male sports bolder colouring, bordering on the flamboyant..
