The James and Ann Whitall House was built in 1748 and evolved into a 400 acre plantation known as Red Bank.
The home is now a museum sitting on a high bank on the East side of the Delaware River SouthEast of Philadelphia.
During the Revolutionary War, Fort Mercer was built just North of the home as a defensive fortification for Philadelphia.
