I consider a "short race" something like a jaunt around the block. That's about as far as I get before collapsing. 8~}. PA.

Only one of my pairs is fully retired (bottom, second from right). I have four pairs of running shoes currently used for running (one for short races--up to 10K, one for long races--marathons and half marathons, one for trail and ice/snow, one for general purpose training), one retired from running, now used for walking around, one older retired pair used for yardwork. There's also a pair of canvas Chuck Taylor's for warm weather, and a pair of snow shoes/boots. This doesn't even include hiking boots, sandals, or flip-flops! Most of my wife's non-running shoes aren't in this picture either. Alastair
