A Wednesday afternoon accident in Lexington left the driver of a moped hospitalized Thursday.

Ricky Testerman, 57, of Lexington, was listed in stable condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, said Lt. Shannon Sharpe of the Lexington Police Department. A hospital spokeswoman said she had no information concerning Testerman's condition.

Testerman was involved in an accident involving his moped and two other vehicles about 4 p.m. Sharpe said the man was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto South State Street from West Center Street when he struck a truck pulling a trailer that was in the far right lane of South State Street and an SUV that was in the turn lane. The lieutenant said Testerman struck the vehicles because he went too wide and turned between the two lanes of traffic.

Sharpe said Testerman was found at fault for unsafe movement. No charges have been issued.

Testerman was wearing a helmet. His injuries are considered nonlife-threatening.
