Rupit

view map

Once in Rupit, one of the things to pay attention to -apart from the beauty of its buildings and its
wonderful setting- is a rock wall that dominates the village. The rock, in Latin "rupes", is the place where the castle was built, and therefore the origin of the name of the village .During the 16th and 17th centuries Rupit had the greatest population of the area with a great number of
craftsmen and traders. A sample of its past glory is engraved in stone on the lintels of many doorways and some show many of the professions that they developed.

A great view of the buildings perched on the cliff. Nice how the walkers add a sense of scale and friendliness. V
