I strive to scan negatives for my massive photo digitizing project. Today I pulled out a picture packet, but it had no negatives, just a complete set of prints. Oh well, I will scan the prints because I really want the images in my database. Doing prints is more labor intensive than negatives. But I got it finished. So I went to the closet for another package and found a complete set of reprints of the ones I just finished, including the missing negatives. Aw sh&t. Well, I had no choice but to scan the negatives since the result is so much better than scanning prints. In today's photo, the image on the left is from the prints. If you view it as original, you will see it much better. The image from the negatives is a lot better. It is sharper and the raw scan has a wider histogram. So, in the future when I find a package without negatives, I am going to look around a little to see if I can find them.
