TITANITE, ADULARIA, CHLORITE and QUARTZ - SPECIMEN WITH OLD LABEL
From St Gotthard, Switzerland.
Specimen size 6 x 3 x 2,5 cm.
According to the label, the specimen is from St. Gotthard.
Stockholm högsk. min./inst. bought it from Gustav Flink in 1883. Gustav Flink (1849 -1931) was a swedish mineralogist and mineral dealer.
It is not known when it was collected at St. Gotthard, but it could be during the building of the first tunnel through the Gotthard massif. The Gotthard Rail Tunnel built 1871- 1881. This is of course pure speculation.
Later, the specimen ended up in Germany in the collection of Adolf Scholz (1894 - 1950), mineral collector and chemist.
I bought it from Christian Rewitzer, Germany in 2010.
