Yesterday's snow was short-lived and today is wet and windy as Storm Darwin batters the country.
Roofs have been blown off buildings, the windows of a library blown in, and an unprecedented number of trees knocked down.
Around 250,000 households are without electricity, mostly in the south and west of the country.
The winds are increasing here and we'll be lucky if we don't lose power.
