Muralles de Girona

For a city with such a turbulent history, it is impressive that Girona still maintains much of it's city walls and ramparts. What is even more impressive still is the fact that they are open to the public and form a significant part of the city's Archeological and Historical walk.
The walk start at Església de Sant pere de Galligants and continues through the old town of Girona towards Placa Catalunya. Much of the walk is along the top of the ramparts and offers great views across the city to the west and the surrounding countryside to the north and east.
The walk brings you past the Cathedral, Esglésias de Sant Feliu, University as well as passing through small gardens and defensive buildings

Beautiful photo of a beautiful old part of Catalunya. My son lived in Girona for a year in the late 1990s. We visited several times, and walked sections of the old wall. Thanks to your excellent architectural and landscape photography I'm seeing once again the special nature of this part of our planet. Wish I was into photography when I visited, but I wasn't. I just might have to go back ;-) . V!
