Underwater Magic

Molokini Crater, Maui

I use to dive, a lot a long time ago. Back when I was in the Navy, and I traveled the world and had (and took advantage of) the opportunity to Dive some incredible places it was pretty much my main hobby for a few years. Back then, GoPros were a dream? The thought to have HD still and video in a hand held unit that worked, without fail, simply and easy to control. Back then, a underwater dive rig for a Nikon or Canon body/lens and then add lights were the cost of my first new car, or more.

Here, we have this shot by either me or Sarah today. Simple, easy and pretty decent for a 300 dollar camera no bigger than a deck of cards. The videos we shot are even better in HD.

Today was great. Getting my wife and daughter in the ocean off of a dive boat and snorkeling on 2 really great sites. Molokini Crater and then the Cathedral Lava Tubes off Lanaii. Great, no perfect visibility at Molokini to give than that sense of awe and wonderment. Seeing Tangs, Butterfly Fish and Corals swaying in the surf. Swimming in from about a 60 foot depth to the craters edge and watching them smile and see the oceans for not just a vast carpet of blue stuff covering the planet but rather up close and personal. We took only pictures and video but they'll have these memories for a lifetime.
