“July 26, 1806 - This marks the farthest point west on Capt. Lewis Trip up the Marias River.”
This was the part of the Lewis and Clark expedition where
they skirmished with the Blackfoot, killing two, the only
fatal encounter on the entire expedition. The irony
is that this is on or near the Blackfoot reservation,
close enough for target practice.
