Lucy

For six months or more, this little cat was living wild at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, a popular drop-off for cats and, in 2013, black rabbits! When the weather started turning snowy and cold in November volunteers made a big effort to catch this little one and after five weeks, succeeded. She is now at home with me, staying for the present in a separate room. I don't know she was born feral or is wild because of being so long alone fending for herself. At any rate, she has been with us for five weeks and is slowly, slowly coming around. I still can't pick her up and she hisses if I come too close, but she will now come and eat when I sit in the room, and even play with the toys I've given her. Hopefully she is learning to adjust to humans, slowly, slowly....

(For the first few months I had no idea if this cat was male or female as I could not get near her, but eventually I was able to determine that the cat was a she.)

This cat is very lucky to have a warm home and someone to care for it after it's rough start.

Lovely color contrast between the black and the colors of the books. She looks suspicious but also seem curious as to your offer of friendship. V

Wow. Amazingly close in looks to one of our cats. Good luck getting this one to tolerate you --- we had a rescue that was ok with my wife and kids but really disliked me.

The cat's behaviour reflects his/her pressured life, so he/she deserves the change. Adorable cutie, well captured. V

We had a black cat like this for 18 years, I'm sure he/she will be a great friend after some time. V

What a beautiful cat. Fitting that he/she is beside a book "The Way We Are" as you
are letting her come to human contact in her own time.
