Trashed

You ever have a dream so vivid that you can’t help but think it really happened?
Have you ever woken up from the realistic experience/dream /nightmare and tell yourself “it’s a dream, go back to sleep” to only nod off again and pick RIGHT BACK up in the dream sequence. Yeah that was my night last night. A restless and troubled sleep it was… To my friends who have insomnia I feel for you. Normally I am out all night. Not the case last night!

I dreamed that somehow I broke my beloved Nikon 14-24 f2.8 as we were leaving for the airport. How is still a mystery, but it was smashed. That beautiful curved lens bubble that is distortion free was smashed to bits. I remember picking up each piece of glass and trying to glue it back together with Elmer’s glue. I woke up at this point. What a night mare and after a trip to the kitchen sink and some water I was fast asleep.

Back in dreamland I went. Once that glue fix was not working I then slipped out the front door while my wife was waiting for our ride to the airport to go to a local camera shop. They said they could fix it in 6 weeks. I need a 14 to 24 NOW…. We then got into this heated argument for me to rent one for 10 days at 1,800 bucks. I said, fine I’ll just buy one and they would NOT sell it to me. Rentals only. No sales anymore? Again, I woke up?

A trip to the bathroom, tripped on a dog and back asleep I was. Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Back in dreamland again and on a plane to Hawaii I was ordering from the B and H website for $1800 bucks. But they wanted $500 in shipping, I remember being disgusted and throwing my already glued together broken 14-24 in a garbage can at the Maui airport and woke up.

I went into my camera bag when I got up this am to check and make sure this was in fact a bad dream and not some twisted reality.

That's HORRIBLE....I would have got up and put it under my pillow. Nice capture.

One of my favorite lenses and one of my biggest worries when I use it, which is frequently. Luckily I have been spared dreams like yours.

WOW……that dream just sucks…..But i have real story with my 14-24…look at this image herehttp://www.pbase.com/impalass/image/132332601 This was the first minutes of the big pour i'm at 14mm and very close to the action….seconds later my lens and camera would be spotting in new concrete!!!! My heart stopped but quickly got the camera and lens wetted down to remove the spots. My lens still has some concrete in the corner…and serves as a reminder of this job!!! Lucky yours was only a dream…….!!!!!
