Garth Mania

Crowds queuing to buy tickets for Garth Brooks Irish concerts.
Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning and such was the demand that a 3rd concert was added.
Something like 240,000 tickets were sold though Ticketmaster in 90 minutes.
Some people had started queuing on Tuesday and came equipped with sleeping bags, chairs and umbrellas.
A local coach company provided a bus for fans to sleep in last night.
Not everyone who bought tickets intended going to the concert. Within hours of the concerts selling out, tickets were being offered for sale on-line at vastly inflated prices.

Garth... Brooks?
In IRELAND?? {Raised eyebrow of astonishment.}
I'm glad you're PADing because I would never have believed that had I not see3n it here. Mind you, I just Googled this and saw newspaper reports that the gigs (up to 5 at last count) have raked in about 22M pounds. Not bad considering that according to one report the concert plans have yet to receive sanction from the local authorities.
Scalping... honestly, I can't see why it's so hard to stop scalping. A simple, straightforward law that tickets cannot be resold by the purchasers but only returned to the agency for refund at face value, with the agency then able to resell the tickets should do it. Yes, it "infringes" on people's right to deal with their own property but really it's just about stamping out advantage-takers, not people who are dealing in good faith.

Great capture of this mania scene! Personally, I can't even imagine camping out for something like this! V.

Nothing like a red coat to cheer up a cloudy day!

Ticket scalpers are everywhere but it may be worth the price for a super fan to experience it live. V

Yes, that same problem happens here too. And often times, there are well-made counterfeit tickets on the street too.
