Following on from my comments yesterday re DMs wonderful kind way of looking after me, he’s played a blinder tonight. I’ve worked for a total of 26 hours in the last 48 hours and so he decided it was the right night to pop up to the pub in the village for “chips and egg”. We are notorious in our village for the fact that we always eat exactly the same meal in the pub every time we go there – “double egg and chips twice please, and make one of them with baked beans”! They don’t ever bother to show us the menu, they just line up the food and we eat it!
It’s partly because we consider the eating of chips to be a real treat because we very rarely do and partly because it’s the cheapest meal you can have in there and we can go in, both of us eat a filling meal and have a couple of pints of beer each for about £20. You can’t get dinner out much cheaper than that anywhere.
It’s the first time in probably two months that we’ve been in there so, in addition to the well-earned food and beer, there was a lot of gossip to catch up on and we spent a couple of hours chatting to friends, chatting to strangers, chatting to the landlord and landlady and none of them knew anything about Ofsted, stress or the trials and tribulations of being a trainee teacher. I forgot my load for a few hours and it was heavenly!
