Today was interesting to say the least. I was preparing to leave on a three day trip to multiple cities and had to clean off my car. My car that had snow on it from sitting all weekend was buried. To facilitate the quick removal of this snow, I was using a push broom to assist in getting this off the roof area. The broom that had a steel pole either due to cold, or a defect "snapped" in the exact spot my left hand was holding and very efficiently and painfully removed the pad on my finger- deep and ragged… I ended up basically chopping off the pad of my middle finger on my left hand. The pad, on my finger is gone. Have to go see a specialist tomorrow to have this dressing changed and a consult to see if they need to do a skin graft to fix me up for the long term.
The pain, ranked as the third most painful thing to ever happen to me.
Fist ever is Kidney Stones- as I am sure nothing will ever be worse than that. Ever!
Second, as a kid a hornet got stuck in my wet hair at a water park and stung my noggin like 17 times in 8 seconds. Awful.
I thought getting punched in the face and knocked out once in the Navy and having my nose broken was third, but todays injury demoted that to a distant fourth place.
My current issue? Dilaudid. I was graciously given a nice dose of this in the ER as they were trying to stop my finger from causing me to bleed to death. The wonder of this shot did it's thing, alleviated my pain. Now I have a bout of nausea that is beyond anything I'd wish upon my worst enemy. The pain would be more welcome at this point to get the world to stop spinning and the puking to stop.
All this because of winter. F you Winter. F U….
