Saw all the birds scatter very quickly from the feeders, then this hawk swooped in and took one right off the feeders. It sat on the ground for about 5 minutes with its prey, then flew to the pine trees toward the back of the yard where it stashed the prey on one branch, and then sat on another branch. We left for the grocery store and I assumed it would be gone when we got home. I was going out to the back of the yard to take out our compost, and saw the hawk was still there! So went back in and got my camera. It's easy to tell this is a Cooper's hawk by the dark cap on the head, vs. more of a hood on a sharp-shinned hawk.
