There is very little dune, or even sand type habitat in the area where I found this guy. The valley floor surrounding the rock mountain I found this snake on is mostly desert pavement. I was very surprised to stumble on this snake in such a rocky/boulder environment. There are no sand areas to speak of within several miles of this photo location, then only small sand patches if anything.
