Eastern Red Spruce

#11 Trees

'Picea rubens'
I love the graceful curve of a mature red spruce bough.
Many tall specimens grow on my property.
We selective cut on occasion to allow new growth.
Seasoned red spruce makes good firewood, denser than most softwoods.
Along with black spruce (Picea mariana), they are the most common and plentiful trees on my island.

It is so graceful and I'll wager that it smells good too. How lucky you are to have them! I like how you captured the curve!

Do they have a nice pine scent like Balsam?
