Snowy #1

I forgot to take my 400mm lens with me to shoot my first Snowy Owl. :(
Silly me!

Salem Rd. and Bartville Rd. in Kirkwood., PA (Lancaster County)

This is my final image for the gallery for now.
If I see another Snowy Owl this winter, you can bet I'll shoot it as I'm still wanting the "perfect" Snowy Owl photo!
Many thanks for all of your fun comments!

I'm glad you took this shot. The little owl is amid a farmable shot of barns and a field resting under snow.

Looks good under my magnifying glass Stephanie - just teasing. That will teach you to bring the right lens next time. LOL

Only NOW I see the owl!!
Anyhow: I still feel and mean everything I said about this remarquable image.
(I I were you, I would build further on this! :-))

There's something poetically nice AND intriguing in this quiet, daringly cropped and somewhat blurred, soft, almost monochrome composition.
Very nice, very different.
BIG, BIG vote.

I really like the dreamlike effect of the very shallow DOF. I think a couple of pictures in this gallery are close to the "perfect" Snowy Owl photo. V
