Fire In The Sky

British Columbia

I rarely insert myself into a landscape pic. This sunset was the most colourful I
have seen over Shuswap Lake in the Southern Interior of BC since we moved here
in 2007.

I have not added colour saturation. I added two gradients, one for the sky and
one for the lake and each time reduced saturation. My shooting partner and I
were stunned by the surreal look and colour of the clouds. I was feeling lazy and
she had to twist my arm to get me out. I would have felt sick to have missed this
yet the lead up to it was completely bland with no hint of what was to unfold.

Once I sat on the ice it was too slippery to stand again, I had to slide myself back to my camera.

Peter, this is an amazing image with you in it. With you absent, the photograph would not have been nearly as compelling. Terrific work.

Wow, this is so awesome Peter. Reminds me a little of Andrew Wyeth's Cristina's World only with a macho man feel to it. It truly is an inspiring photograph. I'm glad your friend twisted your arm to get out! V
