Under Pressure

The past few days have been stressful ones as Atlantic storms battered Ireland.
We've been checking weather forecasts and tide timetables, following the latest reports on Twitter and Facebook (good to see social media having a real purpose), and last but not least, looking out the windows to make sure the sea isn't approaching.
Thankfully the tides are receding so, fingers crossed, we've escaped without any damage this time, although it highlights the need for the government to make money available for coastal protection for vulnerable communities.

Don't Irish barometers develop burn-in (like old CRT monitors used to) with the needle stuck at that location throughout most of winter?
(Sorry, couldn't resist...)

I hope your weather changes soon!

Nervous times for lots of areas. Our "water feature" has been running well and keeping the water from the house. The sea is a bit of a different threat though. Keep safe.

I have been reading about the hammering you all have been getting. Hope the weather calms down a bit for you in the coming weeks. Very nice photo.

A beautiful capture but a sobering story. Glad to hear you have escaped unscathed this time, and I hope your luck holds. V.

" it highlights the need for the government to make money available for coastal protection for vulnerable communities"

Great idea, but does the Irish government have any spare money anyway ?
