Jan 2 - LX7 Lens flare at f8

Two reasons for this shot - firstly, it was a lovely sunny morning which makes a nice change after the storms we've had recently, but mainly because I wanted to confirm what I had read about avoiding lens flare issues on the LX7, and in particular that the old adage of "f8 and be there" was really not something to apply to this camera.

At f8, I'd found a lot of my landscape shots from the Lake District last October marred by lens flare issues, even when not shooting directly into the sun as here. I had read that this was just something to be lived with on this camera at smaller apertures, and that using wider apertures was a simple fix.

Hence this shot, and the next one here, which despite being wide open is much sharper and virtually free of flare. More experimentation needed, but it seems like for this camera "f1.4 and be there" is a better policy. Maybe that's why they included a built-in ND filter!
