The LX-7 doesn't have a long telephoto reach, but fortunately at the Butterfly Pavilion the butterflies are fairly close. Even so, most photos I took were with the camera held at arms' length and the zoom maxxed out to its physical limits. This would not be a suitable camera for photographing butterflies in the wild, where they are much more wary, and a longer zoom is a necessity.
