Samish Bay Sunset

In January, 2013 I photographed a very beautiful sunset from this location and have been waiting for eleven months for another opportunity to do it again. So today was my first attempt to re-try and it was a another glorious opportunity. Not only did the sky light up with spectacular color, but the thousands of shore birds that had been sitting in the bay all took to the sky shortly after the sun went down and headed south for some solid ground. This is one of many shots I captured of the birds evacuating the bay.

In the foreground you see Samish Bay; the city lights in the middle ground are the city of Anacortes, Washington. And in the background, the Olympic Mountains.
