Malcolm takes a look at the information card posted by this polychrome wood statue of John the Baptist in the Pinacoteca in Siena.
John the Baptist can be identified in artistic imagery, because he is usually shown with his fore- finger "pointing the way" to the
coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is also sometimes shown in a camel's hair cloak and holding a staff or crude wooden cross,
with a banner bearing the Latin words, "Ecco Homo",... Behold the Man.
