13 - Nativity

In Dutch this is called: "beschuit met muisjes", literally translated: "rusks with little mice".

Beschuit, also known as Dutch crispbakes, are light, round, rather crumbly, rusks. The "little mice" are
anise seeds covered in white, pink or blue sugar. In the Netherlands it is customary to serve beschuit met
muisjes at the birth of a baby, white and pink mice when it is a girl, white and blue mice when it is a boy.

A colleague of mine became father of a healthy boy last week and served these.

They look like delicious cookies! I like the tradition of giving cookies instead of cigars for a birth! :)
