The sign says " The first accommodation house at Jenolan caves was erected by the "keeper of the caves" by Jeremiah Wilson in 1880. By 1885,a large two storey wooden house had been built and by 1887 a second two storey building had been added. However in march 1895, fire destroyed all the accommodation with only the most recent two storey building being saved. Construction of caves house as you see it today was begun it 1898 and continued until 1923.
