Preparing the bonfires for Christmas Eve

St. James Parish, Louisiana

An old custom on the German Coast along the Great River Road in Louisiana, lighting the bonfires on Christmas Eve for Papa Noel or lighting the way to midnight Mass.
For miles on top of the Mississippi River levee there are "teepees" like this cut from the willows that grow along the River. It has been a family tradition for over a century.

I bet that is a sight to see. Great capture of the frames that will house the fires.
