En marchant sur les quais, je remarquai que la Cité était en fête et ressemblait à un theatre magique dont la scène se serait étendue aux venelles, aux places et aux ponts qui enjambaient les canaux. Les terrasses des cafés et des restaurants étaient occupées par des acteurs grimés et masqués habillés de costumes extravagants menant joyeuse vie.
Après dîner je marchais dans le labyrinthe des ruelles où se succédaient les sons tonitruants d’une fanfare et les arpèges délicats d’un orchestre baroque. Il me semblait avoir été transporté au temps de Goethe, du divin Mozart, de Voltaire ou même de Vivaldi...

Walking on the quays, I noticed that the city was very festive and looked like a magical theater which scene would have extended to the alleys, the squares and bridges. The terraces of cafes and restaurants were occupied by Grimes and Masked actors dressed in extravagant costumes leading happy life.
After dinner I walked through the maze of alleyways Where you could hear successively the thunderous sounds of a brass band and the delicate arpeggios of a baroque orchestra. I seemed to have been transported to the time of Goethe, the divine Mozart, Voltaire or even Vivaldi ...
