Am more of a self collector, but I did pick this one up at the Houston Gem Show. First attempt to cut or photograph an opal. Have only cut the outer sand matrix away to see what I have, and am now not sure if I want to proceed and risk losing any of the fire from the specimen.
I was not aware of all the Hydrophane properties of these Welo Opals when I purchased and was scared I had completely ruined it when it turn cloudy from getting it wet during cutting. It took the better part of a week for it to return to normal.
