This building is the headquarters of the Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) and is located in Tukwila, Washington. I can remember sitting in my car in one of those lanes, waiting for a teller to process my checking deposit. I can also remember standing in line inside to deposit money or withdraw it. Waiting in line for anything is unpleasant.
It was here that my wife and I first talked to a financial planner about retirement. It shocked me to learn that he believed we could afford to quit working. Follow-up discussions confirmed it. Being able to retire sounded too good to be true, but it was true, thanks to my wife's shrewd sense of investing.
All those things are distant memories. Since retiring there has been no need to go there. Speaking of memories, I can remember when this area was just a farm with cows grazing in a pasture. That must have been the mid-1980s.
At right is the Green River Trail. Photographed during an examination of trail access points.
