Judy and two Cambodian girls at the Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia

The girls behind Judy: Cambodian greeting - Cambodians greet each other by placing their hands, palms together, near their faces and bowing slightly. This is called Som Pas.
The face on the stone is that of Avalokitesvara (Buddha of Compassion) - perhaps to create a sense of power or control. (Some scholars claim the faces bear a resemblance to the king himself.)
The three-level Bayon Temple was built in the 13th century and was the official state temple of the Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. It was the last state temple built in Angkor and the only Angkorian temple dedicated to Buddha.
