Roots from the big Banyon tree appear to swallow parts of the temple - roots sought crevices among the stones.
The temple was built in the 12th century - was Buddhist - originally known as "Monastery of the King. It is being restored via a Cambodian/Indian project. But basically it has been left untouched by archaeologists except for the clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration. On UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1992.
